Curriculum Map Sample

Each week, New Light Academy will show films about America's history, showing the good, the true, the ugly, and the beautiful.  Each session will begin with a 45 minute to an hour long video on American history.  These videos are gripping, informative, and fun to watch.  

Afterwards, age groups will be broken up into groups to discuss and to perform activities to improve understanding of the video by New Light Academy staff members.  After the break (and maybe a snack if we get the funding), students will then walk through the imagination station where New Light will have lessons for each age group. These sessions enhance the moral imagination of students to think Biblically, morally, and ethically in their daily lives with their families and future civil responsibilities.  

Finally, New Light Academy will adapt the world renowned books by Thomas Sowell to be intellectually digestible to Middle and High school students.  These lessons will use interactive technology, YouTube media, and engaging activities that challenge students to think persuasively about cultural issues.  This kind of cultural reasoning is very much needed in our 21st century.
